Many people know about the high quality standards that Karastan carpet has but there are many other reasons besides quality that you should add this type of carpet to your home. Things like longevity and care for the planet are the reasons that I chose this brand of carpet over the others, and I want to share that with you in this post.
Most homes have tufted carpet that is small loops of wool or a synthetic material that make it carpet. This is the standard for homes, but unfortunately this carpet does not last very long and is very prone to damage from foot traffic. We’ve all seen how easy it is to get the tufts to come up, or see them spinning around inside the vacuum cleaner. The difference with Karastan is that their rugs and carpets are woven, which makes them last significantly longer than tufted types. If you think about it, it makes total sense. There are less moving parts and things that can break or tear (the tufts) and when woven together it becomes one solid unit, like a rope. Stronger and longer lasting carpet means that I save money over time.
The care that Karastan has for the planet is also important to me and my family. They choose a wool that comes from New Zealand that is processed in a very environmentally friendly manner. It’s a sustainable product that won’t do too much damage to the planet over time. Even their synthetic blends are sustainably sourced. Rather than the traditional chemical polymers that other carpet companies use, it’s a blend made from ingredients like corn and other natural agricultural products.
I’m very happy with the Karastan carpet that I have in my home, and I’m sure that you would be too. It can be more expensive than other carpet brands, but with some smart shopping and watching for big sales you should be able to get it at a very affordable price.
