When most people think of a gun cabinet, they think of it as being a way to showcase their firearm collection for all to see. And to some extent, this is one of the main intents of a gun cabinet. What most people don’t realize is that there are many different types of wood gun cabinets on the market, some of which do not 
highlight your guns whatsoever.
A prime example of this type of covert showcase is a hidden gun cabinet. A hidden cabinet is designed to store your firearms without anyone knowing they are there. In this way it is a much more secure solution than a traditional showpiece. The hidden cabinet will generally be designed to highlight some other type of display pieces, similar to what a curio or china cabinet would.
These types of hidden cabinets generally have built-in slide outs or hinged pieces that open the cabinet into the gun storage compartment. Rather than show case the gun collection, it hides them deep inside the cabinet. This allows the guns to remain out of plain sight, and yet accessible in need of easy access.
Hidden gun cabinets do not have to function on such a grand scale either. It may be that a simple hidden compartment is built into the curio. With a smaller storage compartment, a small handgun or pistol may be stored instead.
If you are reluctant to purchase or use a gun safe for your home, you may want to consider the use of a hidden gun cabinet. It allows you to safely store your firearms, and all the while covering up their presence in your home. Granted, a gun cabinet is not the same thing as a safe and does not offer the same sorts of protection that a gun safe offers. You will find that as long as it is used properly, it can provide a degree of additional protection for your home.
