Finding the ceiling lights that look great with the room that you are working in is tough enough, but when you add in all of the different finishes that the lights come in, it gets tougher! Luckily, there are some simple things you can do to figure out which finish is the right one for your room. In this post I want to share with you how to do this, and what finish to pick if you can’t make up your mind!
The first thing to do is to grab a pen and paper and take some notes down of the common colors and themes that are in the room. Pretend like it’s the first time you’ve ever been in there, and try to have a fresh set of eyes. Look up, down, and all around and write down what you see. Be sure to note the small details that you see. The list of things that you are jotting down is going to be the requirements for the light fixture finish that you choose. If there are lots of browns and mellow colors, a bronze or copper finish will pair very well. If there is black, white, and contrasting colors, stainless or chrome are great choices.
There is a major downside to this project though, you’re going to see some areas of the room that haven’t been cleaned in years!
Should you not be able to determine what finish you want, chrome ceiling lights will work in just about any situation. The finish reflects a lot of color back, so it acts like a chameleon and blends in. This isn’t true with over the top chrome light fixtures, but for the standard styles of lighting it works great!
Picking out a light fixture for your ceiling shouldn’t be that tough, but unfortunately it is. Use the guide above to figure out what finish you want, and if you still can’t decide, go with chrome!
