For many people it would come as a great surprise that you can get beds in different styles. Let’s take a look at the options:
Bedstead
This type of bed is relatively low to the ground and has a visible wooden frame – having said that, some people prefer the shabby chic look furniture and will buy a painted bedstead. Regardless of it’s material it key identifying feature is that generally speaking the top side of the mattress will be about 2 feet of the ground. A bedstead may be open at the bottom but more often than not you will find that there is an upright which is usually not as high as the headboard. Bedsteads are a great option if you have small rooms as they are not imposing.
Divan
A divan bed is much larger looking than a bedstead and the top side of the mattress can sit at 3 feet of the ground. The whole bed is upholstered and you will have to attach a head board to the end of it. Although they are not a good choice for smaller rooms (due to their look) the irony is that they will usually have large drawers underneath them to store bedding and other items.
Futon Bed
Popular over in the far east, the futon bed is not what westerners think it is – a sofa that fold out to a bed. A futon bed is actually a roll up mattress that is put on a floor or a very low frame, in the day the bed can be rolled away. Of course of you want something different you could opt for a futon bed – they are extremely low to the ground and will make any size room look huge. If you are planning on using it for you main bed you don’t necessarily have to roll it away every day.
