A little guidance is needed every now and then when a home owner starts a renovation project; Franke kitchen taps are no different. Here are a few tips to help you out. Take a look at the instructions below, to see if there are any steps that you may have left out of the process.
You don’t want a flooded kitchen on your hands, so you’re going to have to find where the water enters into the kitchen, and turn it off. Look towards the back of the cabinet for two small handles. Turn them slowly to the left, as far as possible to ensure that they are shut off. Use the water source above the sink to determine whether or not you have properly shut the water source off. If there is water coming out of the tap, you’re going to need to get in the cabinet and turn the valves the other direction.
Examine how your current tap is installed, and proceed to remove the nuts attached to the bottom of the sink. Loosen the nuts attached to the stud, to allow the tap unit to move freely. Try lifting the tap up, to see if you can move it without having to do anymore work. When taps have been installed for years, they may be difficult to remove, and require some coaxing.
Locate the bag of extra parts that comes with your new kitchen tap unit. Leaking water in dark places causes mold very easily, which is why it is so important to install the seals properly. Figure out where the new seals should be installed by checking over the instructions included in the kit.
Line the studs on the bottom of the new assembly up with the holes that the old tap came out of, and slowly guide it into place. Tighten the bolts down snug, then reattach the plumbing lines to the new taps kitchen to check for leaks. Using light snugging force, tighten down any nuts and bolts that may have water dripping around them.
