How to Find The Best Drying Machine

Posted by Rod Macbeth in

Most people think about buying a new dryer machine when they move into new accommodation and need to install a drying appliance for the first time. The decision that most people are faced with is whether to go for a washer dryer combo machine that does two jobs or go for a single, dedicated drying unit. To make the right choice it is important to do a little prior research, to get something that is appropriate for your needs and to avoid making any costly mistakes.

You will normally find that most drying machines are bigger than a combination machine especially if you consider that you also have to factor in a separate washing machine. Most separate units have a drum capacity of around 5 to 7 cubic feet whereas most compact models have about 3 cubic feet of capacity. Compact models are especially useful where space is of a premium such as in cottages, apartments or even a boat.

Many drying machines you find are powered by electricity, but it is possible to find appliances that are actually powered by gas. These gas appliances can work out very cost effective in the long run.

When going in a store to look at the machines it can be quite daunting. These are from companies such as Whirlpool, GE, Maytag and Kenmore that it can be quite daunting and confusing when going into a store for the first time to look at the machines. Therefore, a useful thing to do is an online search for the different makes on a large site such as Amazon. These will give a list of features that you can make a note of but will also give customer reviews which are an invaluable source of real feedback. When going to a store it is vital to measure the space where the dryer is going to go into.

The full size machines which are useful if you have a large family are usually about 28 inches wide. If the space you have is much smaller than this then it is worth having a look at one of the more compact mini drying or mini washer dryer machines.

One of the decisions you will have to make when purchasing a machine is whether to go for a vented or non vented model. A vented appliance pushes the damp hot air from the machine to the outside of the house and into the fresh open air. With a non vented or ventless model the hot, damp air is removed from the clothes and passed through a condenser. This produces water which collects in the machine and has to be emptied regularly.

The vented machines tend to be cheaper than the ventless models, which require regular emptying, although they do require a way of connecting to the outside which may be a problem in some residences. A non vented model can be placed anywhere in the house as it does not need this connection.

When making a choice there are basically two more decisions to make: whether to go for a single dryer unit or go for the washer dryer combo appliance; and whether to buy a vented or ventless model. One last point of note is that both machines will achieve the same outcome of dry clean clothes but you will find the washer dryer combo will take a little longer to do it.

The Hose Sprayer

Posted by Rod Macbeth in

During summer, a large percentage of people spend their days in the garden. Sprayers are a very sought after commodity during that time. Most people prefer to buy a sprayer that comes with a modifiable nozzle. This is because they are ideal for use with the garden hose. It makes it possible to determine a lot of factors that come with the use of these sprays. It makes a very versatile tool.

There are sprayers that are specially designed for spraying of weeds. They should not be used for any other purpose other than to sterilize the soil. It is advisable for someone to have a separate sprayer for each job in the garden.

You should clean your sprayer as soon as you are through with using it. This is the right process regardless of the type of work you were doing. Swish some soapy water around the sprayer and then rinse it out using some warm water.

Those sprayers that are connected to the end of a garden hose are classified as hose sprayers. They come in different sizes and models. You meter the hose water; when you turn on the garden hose, the water is supposed to mix with the spray solution. Most people use this type of sprayer for home gardening since it is very easy to operate. You can adjust your spray to be of your desired choice.

The pressure of the water is vital in determining the distance in which the spray will cover. Since it is impossible to determine this for a fact, you can spray into a closed container and then measure the overall content that is collected. The distance covered is also greatly determined by the length of the available hose.

The other types of sprayers include:

  • Trombone sprayers
  • Tank sprayers
  • Hand pump sprayers
  • Squeeze dusters
  • Aerosols
  • Hand dusters

Wood Burning Stove Installation

Posted by Rod Macbeth in

First off, understand that installing a wood burner is equivalent to building an above ground furnace. Always check with your insurance company before you start. Most of these insurance companies are going to require it be installed professionally. It is highly recommended that this be installed professionally, as there is a lot of precision involved, and one mistake can easily cause a fire to break out in your house or apartment.

Then you need to figure out exactly how big of a wood burning stove you will need. The best thing to do is consult someone who owns a hearth shop. Have this person come out, and he or she will help you determine the best wood burner for the size and space you have set out.

After having the wood burner professionally installed, what you need to do next is clear any and all combustible materials away from the stove. Always check with the owner’s manual and find out what the recommended space is to keep all flammable materials from the stove. If you have children, teach them that what’s being installed is extremely dangerous and is not a toy. Unfortunately, there is no substitution for responsible parenting.

Next, proper maintenance, including cleaning is required for your new wood burner. Keep in mind that this is done in much the same way as cleaning a chimney. You’re trying to clean out the creosote from your wood burning stove, for two reasons. For one thing, letting the creosote build up will eat away at the flue pipe. Second, it will smell during the summer months, which is the last thing you need. An annual cleaning done in the style of a chimney sweep will prevent the need to repair your stove. Buying materials like you buy to keep your chimney clean, such as the Creosote Sweeping Log, will help the cause but it will not prevent entirely having to clean your wood burning stove every year.

In conclusion, when it comes to wood burning stove installation, even with all the do-it-yourself manuals and Bob Vila’s advice on “doing it yourself”, the best thing you can do is get professionals involved and get the item installed. A good wood burning stove will pay for itself in the long run by saving you a fortune in heating costs and end up saving the planet in the process.
